Indianwear Capsule Closet: Blouse Edition

Indianwear Capsule Closet: Blouse Edition

Let’s start with the basics. Blouses form the backbone of an Indianwear closet, and they are the first step to achieving a capsule wardrobe.

Blouses can seamlessly be worn with most bottoms in your wardrobe, easily switched around between varying outfit sets. Switching out a blouse within a set is often the easiest way to breathe fresh life into it. For example, switch out the matching navy blue blouse from a lehenga set with a hot pink one - and the colorblocking immediately changes the look.

Building a solid blouses foundation is integral, and here are the rules I like to follow:

  1. Basics: Black or White Blouse

  2. Metallic: Gold or Silver Blouse

  3. Jewel toned: Emerald Green, Navy Blue or Burgundy

  4. Pop of color: Hot Pink, Cherry Red, Electric Blue, Bright Yellow, Burnt Orange

  5. Pastel: Powder Blue, Lilac, Pastel Pink, Pastel Yellow

Ideally, you start at the top and make your way down the list. After fulfilling one in each color category, if you’re still itching for more, I would recommend starting at the top again.

Importantly, make sure you are covering different fabrics, sleeve lengths, necklines and embellishments in your blouses, to make sure you have something for every occasion.
